Bloom Into You

I love yuri … or rather the IDEA of yuri because unfortunately most yuri these days is only about mentally disturbed or broken girls and I just can’t get behind that. These relationships are twisted, heartbreakingly upsetting, and not romantic. They’re traumatizing. THIS however, left me breathless and with NO WORDS in it’s absolutely epic clarity of what it means to be broken, neurotic, and self loathing … or in love WITH SOMEONE who is.

It plays like a psychological nightmare, but I get the feeling most people probably think it’s romantic.

It’s so not. It’s kind of sick if you’re sane … and tragic.

Maybe I just really don’t understand this relationship at all and I’m utterly confused by these two characters. This whole “I won’t fall in love with you” / “Thats fine just don’t fall in love with anyone else” relationship makes no sense to me.

When I first started watching the anime Kuzuno Honkai / Scums Wish, I knew I wouldn’t finish it. It was about the most GARBAGE people on the planet, people I sat and hoped would die in some horrible way for the trauma they inflicted upon others …

Strangely I feel very similar watching Bloom Into You … both of these women are horrendously damaged people who couldn’t grasp the concept of love if it ran them both over with a bullet train.

Bloom Into You and Happy Sugar Life have FAR too many similarities if you’re looking at it deeply enough and clearly enough. That brilliant static from Happy Sugar Life always plays in my brain whenever either one of the girls in Bloom Into You is talking about the other or expressing their version of emotion … there’s a sickness there – consuming both of them – that really needs to be addressed.
