Yesterday I wrote a coffee thoughts piece about high school being some people’s peak realization … that middle school and high school really shape your understanding of how best to succeed in the world and that includes aspects of sociopathy and psychopathy which usually begin in adolescence and get masked in adulthood.
Many CEOS are sociopaths and psychopaths … those traits are actually good for succeeding in business. That explains a lot …
Men have disconnections from their emotions a lot of the time and by the time they are adults learning to process, express, examine, and analyzing them really is something they just have no practice doing.
I was struck by Rick Osterloh explaining how AI makes things better … and he uses emotional expressions as primary examples of things that could be more efficient or better with AI.
I was particularly interested in how he brings up his mother FORCING him to handwrite thank you notes.
I flatly reject the future that Google is advertising. I want to live in a culturally diverse world where billions of individuals use AI to amplify their human skills, not in a world where we are used by AI pretending to be human. – Shelly Palmer
People in positions of power see efficiency as the most important quality in people. Human connection is non-existent in business and the way any business makes the most money is by eliminating human connection and focusing on maximum efficiency.
Emotions and doing things that add an emotional touch or expressing empathy and understanding of other humans beings is kind of a waste of time.
Also anything that means money can be made by doing as little as possible is a bonus too.
Rick thinks we’re not ready to accept products that help us GET MORE DONE and BE MORE PRODUCTIVE … and he adds “to touch more people”.
But what he cares about, what all these sociopathic/psychopathic, money hungry people want is maximum effectiveness. All they care about is getting more done faster and being more productive to make more money … they believe EVERYONE should be like this.
They believe everyone should strive for this idea of maximum output in business and life.
There is an implication that you’re “lazy” if you don’t use AI to be more productive … because how are you getting the most done in your day and how are you producing the most quality 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙪𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙙?
This man terrifies me and not because of his horrific vision for the future … but because he simply no longer sees human beings or human emotion as useful or necessary.
It’s also a look at a world where the idea of writing your own personal message to a loved one is apparently so foreign to people that it has become an economically viable business model for outsourced specialists. – Kyle Orland
The idea of AI is also often embraced by people who don’t have a creative bone in their bodies or don’t excel at creative things for one reason or another.
They don’t think creative people are special and they want to make it so that everyone can be creative so that making art isn’t something exclusive to certain people.
I could dive into the desire to dethrone creatives – artists, actors, writers – and talk about the jealousy and self hatred involved but that’s a whole other thread.
It’s all about PRODUCTION … not “production value” … just production.
Doing “more” and being “the best” and making “the best version” of whatever you’re making. It’s only about how people will only except perfection over value and over sentiment.
If you’re going to write a poem it has to be “the best poem” and it has to have taken the least amount of time in order to “touch more people” …
This is the future we have to look forward to … this is the future men like Rick Osterloh want.
So in other words …
The oppressive empire – run by old white men that peaked in high school and that see Capitalism as God – think that every man (not women of course, they should be at home being Trad Wives) should work and slave for said empire and that emotions equal delays and delays equal less money and AI is the best tool to make sure you can get the most done, in the best, most efficient way in less time so that you have more time to do more work.
That about right?
